Biologic Allograft-Mesenchymal Stem Cells

The Mesenchymal Stem Cells provided for the biologic allograft via injection usually into an IV are provided from organ donor Mother’s full term cesarean births. This tissue would normally be discarded at birth. The umbilical cord (UC) and Wharton’s jelly (WJ-MSCs), the mucoid connective tissue in the umbilical cord is a rich reservoir of stem and progenitor cells, growth factors and other bioactive molecules, and extracellular matrix with great potential in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. Each batch purchased from this company comes with flow cytometry data, meaning the effectiveness and number of live cells. Guaranteed 8 Million Cells per milliliter verified by a 3 party, WesGen Inc. The batches test out at 96% effective Viability. Cryopreserved umbilical cord tissues that offer various applications. These cells are accurately harvested and minimally manipulated through a proprietary methodology to preserve its mesenchymal cells, progenitor cells, growth factors, cytokines, extracellular matrix and other active biologics. The immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects of these active biologics, plus their tissue regenerative attributes, makes these cells highly effective and safe in regenerative medicine. Some comments viewed on the web say that various Doctors have tested vials of cells from different sources than my supplier and stated that the testing revealed no viable cells. Cancer

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are emerging as promising anti-cancer agents, which have an enormous potential to be utilized to treat a number of different cancer types. Deriving MSCs from sources such as umbilical cord tissue offers some advantages in cancer therapy. Warton’s Jelly (WJ)-Mesenchymal stem cells have been demonstrated to dilute, thin and reduce the growth of tumors. While most of these properties are not fully understood, there are two mechanisms for cancer suppression that are known. The first is that WJ-MSCs produce several secretory proteins, which in turn induce the cell death of cancer cells and stop the cell cycle. In addition, WJ-MSCs also caused more tumor suppressing genes to be expressed, thus aiding in the cancer treatment. The second mechanism by which cancer can be suppressed is through the enhancement of the immune system reaction to the cancer cells. Studies have shown that rats treated with rat WJ-MSC displayed great improvement in tumor growth inhibition. Those rats showed abundant number of lymphocytes in the tumor area, infiltrating the tissue of the tumor and assist in therapy. In addition to their anti-cancer benefits, WJ-MSCs are also considered safe therapeutic cells because they do not pose a risk of spreading tumor tissue into other parts of the body or other adverse effects.

Neurological disorders

Several studies have reported that mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSCs) restore neurological damage through their secretion of paracrine factors or their differentiation to neuronal cells. Based on these studies, many clinical trials have been conducted using MSCs for neurological disorders, and their safety and efficacy have been reported. Neurorestorative and neuroprotective effects as a tissue repair property of MSCs can be mainly characterized by two mechanisms of action: (1) neurogenic (forming new neuro tissue) differentiation and cell replacement, and (2) secretion of neurotrophic factors (nutrition and maintenance of tissues) . Nerve regeneration has been reported with these types of cells. In a study using UC-MSCs for patients with spinal cord injury, it was proved that transplantation of UC-MSCs has advantages in neurofunctional recovery in comparison with rehabilitation therapy and self-healing alone. In addition, stem cells are emerging as a new treatment and possible cure for cerebral palsy

Cardiovascular diseases

The identification of resident stem cells, comprising those derived from sub-endocardial stroma, suggests the possible self-regeneration of the heart under autocrine/paracrine modulation in the cardiac microenvironment. Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a metabolic stress resulting from over-nutrition and insufficient activity induced insulin resistance and β-cell impairment. Although diet control, physical exercise and oral antidiabetic drugs are all effective in decreasing high blood sugar, it is difficult for many patients to achieve good glucose control depending only on these options, and most of these patients will eventually require insulin therapy. WJ-MSC transplantation significantly decreased the levels of glucose and glycated hemoglobin A1C, improved C-peptide levels and beta cell function, and reduced markers of systemic inflammation and T lymphocyte counts. No major WJ-MSC transplantation-related adverse events occurred.

Cartilage and tendon repair

Injury to articular cartilage is often associated with progressive cartilage wear that may result in osteoarthritic changes to the joint and worsening pain and dysfunction. Therefore, MSCs transplantation enables a quicker recovery of cartilage diseases. The same is true for tendon injuries. WJ-MSC have been shown to produce collagen that repairs tendon injuries. Additionally, they facilitated a change in structure and organization of the collagen fibers.

Wound healing

Wound repair in mammals commonly results in a non-functional mass of fibrotic tissue known as a scar. Scarless wound healing is highly desired for patients who have suffered surgery or trauma, especially to exposed areas. To date, many clinical studies have demonstrated that MSCs can stimulate the healing of different wounds, including chronic skin ulcers induced by diabetic mellitus, radiation exposure, and ischemia (tissue with insufficient supply of blood and oxygen, i.e. blocked arteries, hearing loss, etc.)

Anti-inflammatory properties

Corneal surface

The use of MSCs for corneal surface reconstruction, where the use appears to decrease vascularization of the ocular surface through the production of anti-angiogenic proteins. Reported for therapy with blindness and vision impairment.

Immune Modulation

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are attractive cells for regenerative medicine due to their capacity for proliferation, multi lineage differentiation, and immunomodulatory properties. The MSCs exert their immune suppressive potential by cell-to-cell contact, and by secretion of immune regulatory molecules. UC-MSCs were found to inhibit antibody production in vitro, which may be valuable for autoimmune.

Comparison to other facilities providing Regenerative Medicine

I have done extensive research and comparisons to other facilities offering stem cell services. Some centers put you through the excruciating procedure of extracting the stem cells from your own tissues. It could be from your bone marrow (ouch) or adipose tissue. I also found out that if they do it this way, the stem cells usually go to the newly damaged area where they took the cells and you don’t get much benefit. They charge $9000 to do this. Also, by taking the mesenchymal stem cells this way is limited to only support fibroblast morphology which is only good for repair and regeneration of “like” tissue. They spin it down in a centrifuge and there is a controversy whether that kills the cells or not. The FDA is against Adipose derived cells due to all the variables possible.

Another facility uses exosomes cells which is a cellular protein complex containing enzymes that degrade the cells. They charge $5700 per cc/mL.

Most facilities doing this are mostly doing joints and injury healing. Not necessarily restorative issues like cancer, autoimmune, cardiovascular, neurological or diabetes as examples.

What is Ozone?
